It was a long hot summer — especially in Texas. Our first customer made a special request, and we thought it was a great idea. We made two: one for them and one for testing. The cover fits over the mattress cover and below the bottom sheet, with elastic straps to secure it to the mattress corners. As with all our products, it makes sleeping more comfortable. More experiences came in during January 2015, when it was especially cold in California, with another cold blast sweeping across the country. The same product that keeps you cool in the summer can reuse your body heat to keep you warm in the winter. Orders quickly picked up, particularly for those at risk of losing electricity. In the Northwest, we’ve had some “two-dog nights,” but with one dog and a microwave-heated pack, we stayed cozy. I keep my house at 60–65°F — electricity sometimes lowers it into the high 50s. I respect burn bans, even with a certified stove, since I need clean air. Phase-change products make all the difference.
